Emory Forward

Looking Ahead

COVID-19 Information for the Emory Community

Based on the current COVID-19 conditions in Atlanta, and in consultation with public health experts on and off campus, Emory University has developed guidelines and resources for a continued safe learning environment.

Latest Updates

  • While Emory’s campus will remain open and courses will begin on time, spring semester courses will begin in a remote format. Exceptions include clinical, research, School of Medicine courses, and other select activities.
  • All undergraduate, graduate, and professional school classes will resume in person on January 31, 2022.
  • Most undergraduate courses will be canceled on January 27 and 28 to accommodate students moving back to the Atlanta or Oxford campuses.
  • The remote start to spring semester will coincide with important modifications, including pre-entry testing, changes to isolation and quarantine protocol, and more, that will support Emory’s transition to sustainable campus operations amid COVID-19. See the Spring Semester 2022 page for more information.
  • All students, faculty, and staff are required to be vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 for the spring semester, with exemptions only for those with approved medical reasons or sincerely held religious beliefs (updated December 16, 2021).
  • Contact tracing and return-to-campus protocols for faculty and staff have shifted to a self-service model. Please review the What Do I Do If page for more information.
  • All students, faculty, and staff are required to be immunized for the flu (updated October 14, 2021).
  • Masks are required in all indoor public and common spaces on campus and strongly encouraged outdoors when in groups.
  • Check our COVID-19 dashboard, which shares reported COVID-19 cases and uploaded vaccination rates among faculty, staff, and students.
