Flying High: Eagles Set to Soar

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic that shut down many sports, Emory athletics fans still had a lot to cheer about these past several months. Two more NCAA DIII national championships. An alumnus who brought home Olympic gold. And a new athletics director who brings extensive DI experience to the fold. But perhaps the most welcome news to the school’s 400-plus student-athletes was the return to full UAA conference play for the upcoming year.

Making Waves at the Olympics

Alumnus Andrew Wilson accomplished something that no other D-III swimmer ever has: represent Team USA in the Olympic Games. Not only did he compete in the individual 100- and 200-meter breaststroke events in Tokyo — making the finals in the 100-meter — he won a gold medal as part of the men's 4x100 medley relay team. Though he faced a tall task competing against the sport’s best on the world’s biggest stage, Wilson has been defying the odds and expectations his entire life.

Double Booked

Take a look inside the impressive Library Service Center, a state-of-the-art archive jointly run by Emory and Georgia Tech. Stretching across 4.6 acres near the back of Emory’s Briarcliff Property, the climate-controlled, 55,000-square-foot facility was created to bring key content from two major research university libraries under one roof, expanding access to a broad range of resources to faculty, staff, and students from both campuses.
